Research in Resilience, Innovation, Strategy and Ecosystems (RISE)

Jacqueline You

I am an ESRC Postdoctoral Fellow at Durham University, and a Fellow of Higher Education Authority, UK. Under the Global Talent Scheme, I will be joining the University of York Management School as a lecturer (Assistant Professor) in Fall 2022. A recipient of a PhD in Management from Durham University and a scholarship in the Global Citizenship Programme, Ustinov College, my interdisciplinary research focuses on the antecedents and mechanisms that contribute to building resilience in organisations and society in pursuit of sustainable development goals (SDGs). My recent PhD thesis, entitled 'Exploring Organisational Resilience  from an Inter-organizational Perspective: Relational Resilience based on Business Ecosystems in China', has received research awards from both the Economic and Social Research Council (ESRC) and Durham University, UK. I am currently leading the ESRC UK Innovation and Research project on, 'Towards a Theory of Resilient Ecosystems: A System Approach to Organisational Resilience' (ES/W005611/1) at Durham University.

I serve on the Ustinov College Advisory Board at Durham University and am an active member at the Centre for Innovation and Technology Management (CITM), Institute for Hazard, Risk and Resilience (IHRR), and Wolfson Research Institute for Health and Wellbeing, Durham University. Before starting my ESRC postdoctoral fellowship, I was a lecturer in the Strategy, Operations and Entrepreneurship Group at Essex Business School, Essex University, founding Chair of the Doctoral Student Group (DSG) at the Centre for Innovation and Technology Management, Durham University, and founding Chair of the Doctoral Society, Durham University Business School, UK. I also hold degrees from the University of St Andrews and the University of Shanghai for Science and Technology.

Prior to entering academia, I worked for multinational corporations, primarily in the department of global supply chain networks and strategic procurement in China, the US, Canada and France and then, as an international entrepreneur in the UK under the Global Talent Scheme.

RISE Talk (Resilience, Innovation, Strategy and Ecosystems) is an inaugural seminar series funded by the Economic and Social Research Council (ESRC) and hosted by the Centre for Innovation and Technology Management (CITM), Durham University Business School in the academic year of 21/22. The aim is to facilitate an interdisciplinary discussion and exploration of how conventional theories inform our understanding of contemporary phenomena of RISE and how the role of RISE can help to address some of the pressing and complex issues faced by business and society in achieving sustainable development goals.
